Frederic is a Norwegian environmental activist and he is well known in the Norwegian population for his active work through the last 35 years.
Bellona Holding AS works with the establishment and acceleration of green industry. The company was formally established in December 2010, and is wholly owned by the Bellona Environmental Foundation. BEBA has established a strategy building a competence environment and substantial networks through ownerships, partnerships, long-term activities for the entire battery value chain. BEBA has ownership in companies such as Morrow AS.
BEBA’s fundraising efforts created interest from Agder Energi as an industrial partner leading to merger of Graphene Batteries, NOAH’s and Agder Energi's battery activities into Morrow. Morrow will be setting up for a gigafactory in Arendal and further develop Li-S technology.
Frederic Hauge is widely regarded as one of the architects of the Norwegian electric vehicle revolution, he was the owner of the first EV imported to Norway in 1988. He initiateda partnership between Bellona and Tesla in 2008 and he was chosen by Tesla Motors to receive the first Tesla Model S delivered to Europe in 2013. This cooperation was crucial for Tesla’s early breakthrough in Norway. Hauge has also done considerable work on electrification on maritime sector in Norway. Because of Norway’s highly electrified transport sector, there’s a high demand for sustainable batteries. Norwegian standards often set the agenda internationally.
